Lens Esculenta – Lentils were among the first legumes grown by man, traces of them have been found dating back to 5500 BC. Lentils spread in Asia Minor before in Europe. There are varieties with larger seeds (5-9 mm) green and dark, cultivated in the United States and North America (mainly in Canada), and varieties with smaller seeds (4-6 mm) of orange or red or brown color. also grown in the Mediterranean Basin, in the Middle East or in India. How to heat the product:

• In a traditional pan; • In a water bath by immersing the bag in hot water and heating it for 5 minutes; • In the microwave, pour into a plate and heat for 3 minutes at 750 W.

Lentils with garden scents

    Ingredients for 4 people:
    • 300 gr of Red Lentils
    • 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 sprig of rosemary
    • 1 clove of garlic, 1 bay leaf
    • 1 stalk of celery, 1 carrot
    • 1 onion, 3 sage leaves
    Clean from any impurities. Soak for 6-8 hours, then drain and rinse. Cook in a pot with celery, carrot and onion cut into pieces and extra virgin olive oil for about 40-50 minutes. Add salt only when cooked. Separately, fry the oil, garlic, rosemary, bay leaf and sage leaves in a small saucepan over low heat. Filter the sauté and add it to the lentil and vegetable soup. Serve the dish while still hot.
